BVSD came to us to resolve moisture-infiltration issues at a stucco band around Blue Valley High School. In addition to this need, we recognized an opportunity to unify the school building which had dozens of additions over the years. The District was on board, so the stucco bands were replaced or covered with a metal panel system of around 90% of the building and the entire main façade was upgraded with large, curved elements to soften the stepped additions and welcome students, staff, and visitors. We enlarged the main entry element and gave it color and a more interesting shape to provide a point of interest and anchor for the abstract tiger-stripe ribbons. The perforated metal panels add interest while allowing visual connections both into and out of the school.
